This sounds so simple, but I’m amazed by how many people don’t know this. Sometimes, in Windows, your computer just freezes. You press (or bang) the keys, and no response. Even the control+alt+delete key combo doesn’t work. I’ve seen people just stuck at this point not knowing what to do.
Computers used to have a reset button, but the recent ones don’t. But never fear, the solution is simple. Just press and hold the power button for about 5-7 seconds, and the computer will turn off. Then just press power again to turn it back on. Problem solved.
This works for both Windows and Mac by the way, but I’ve never had an instance where the OS froze on me in Mac… just an fyi.
Of course you’ll lose everything you were running at the time….
yep, of course – thk you for pointing that out.
When you press and hold the power button, you’ve already loss whatever you were working on.
That is why you have to save your work often if that is possible and use Firefox.
